The Changing Image of American Trans air
Arrival of American Trans Air
ATA first hit in 19## with a runway inspired logo which included gold and blue period colors. This livery remained in place for ## years, and graced the skies on most fleet types flown throughout ATA's history. (Boeing 707, 720, 727-100, 727-200, 757-200; Lockheed L-1011 & Douglas DC-10)
"ON ATA you're on Vacation"
While ATA had been touting itself as the vacation airline for many years, and even using the slogan "On ATA You're On Vacation" under the original branding, in #### the company released what some call the holiday livery.
This livery cemented the personality ATA had acquired of its ## years. Fun, vacation, holiday, no matter what you call it, ATA made sure you customers knew who they were.
Unfortunately, due ATA's operating style, there was never a time in the ## years this livery flew in which all aircraft wore the colors. When this livery was replaced in 20##, some aircraft still wore the original colors. This livery was only carried on the Boeing 727-200, 757-200 and Lockheed L-1011 fleets.
